This was the scene last night at Greentree after the first landing of the back stairs collapsed earlier in the day while people were on it. Until repairs are made, occupants of 32 apartments on the second and third floors of Building A have no exit to the outside in case of emergency except at the other (far) end of the building. (This writer measured that exit as far as 90 paces from some of the impacted apartments.)
Photos shot earlier in the day soon after the collapse show that the entire concrete landing went down.
